Fortum continues to support Save the Children’s work in four countries and in humanitarian crises

Save the Children Finland and Fortum have entered into a multiyear partnership in Fortum’s main operating countries Finland, Sweden, Norway and Poland. The purpose of the partnership is to enable a safe and balanced start to life for children. In addition, Fortum supports Save the Children’s humanitarian work in crisis and conflict areas.

With this partnership, Fortum contributes to Save the Children’s work towards creating a safe and balanced start to life for children in these four countries. In the Nordics, Fortum supports programmes and projects that provide support to children and families facing challenges.  In Finland Fortum supports children by helping to fund study materials, by distributing food vouchers, and by financially supporting their leisure activities. In Sweden and Norway Fortum supports initiatives ensuring that children in socioeconomically disadvantaged areas have access to meaningful leisure activities. In Poland, Fortum supports educational activities so that Ukrainian refugee children can continue learning despite the ongoing hostilities.

“We share Save the Children’s values, and continuously see the positive impact of their work with and for children and families. This partnership is a natural continuation of our previous collaboration which started in 2017. Through it we are affirming our support to Save the Children’s efforts more predictably and enduringly,” says Nebahat Albayrak, Fortum’s Executive Vice President, Sustainability and Corporate Relations.

Over the years, Save the Children and Fortum have cooperated successfully on multiple initiatives globally. Fortum has supported Save the Children’s work especially in Finland, India, and in humanitarian crises.

“We are thankful for the continued support that Fortum has provided to our programmes and to the humanitarian crises over the years. With this new partnership we can help children and their families who face socio-economic challenges not only in the toughest places in the world, but also in our own geographic area”, adds Sanna Kuusisto, Director of Communications and Fundraising at Save the Children Finland.
