Volunteering for domestic preparedness
Save the Children volunteers are prepared to support the authorities in the event of accidents and incidents affecting children and families, such as prolonged power and water cuts or large-scale arrivals.
In a crisis situation, Save the Children can set up a Child Friendly Spaces for children and families to support the authorities, for example in an evacuation center, emergency shelter or reception center for asylum seekers. The local Save the Children associations and volunteers of the organization play a key role in the operation of Child Friendly Spaces. We can also open a crisis chat for young people or support children and families in other ways, depending on the situation.
Under normal circumstances, volunteers can participate in preparedness trainings, exercises, regional and local preparedness networks and other cooperation activities, including planning trainings and exercises and practical crisis response. Volunteers interested in training can train others. Part of the participation in cooperation networks is only open to members of Save the Children local associations
